HCMS GENERAL LESSON AND FEE POLICY
Although there is some variability between instructors, students typically pay for a month of lessons in advance. There are additional costs for study materials and occasional assessments administered through the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program. Participation in assessments is optional.
HCMS does not charge fees for registration or performance events.
Please make every effort to keep your regularly scheduled lesson time as a priority in your week because there are no refunds for lessons missed by students. Make-up lessons may be scheduled at your instructor’s discretion and you’ll find they are glad to work them in when possible. If your instructor needs to cancel a lesson, you will have the option of scheduling a make-up lesson or receiving credit.
In cases of inclement weather, HCMS will remain open. If you are not comfortable with the driving conditions and want to cancel the lesson, a make-up can be scheduled. If a Level 3 Snow Emergency is declared, HCMS will close and you will have the option of scheduling a make-up lesson or receiving credit.
If a student needs to take an extended time away from lessons (4 or more weeks) and would like to reserve their lesson time, a 50% fee must be paid in advance to reserve the time in the schedule. Make-up lessons will not be available.
HCMS closes on the following national holidays:
New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve. There are other holidays and observances throughout the year, but if your lesson is scheduled on one of these days you should expect to have your lesson unless other arrangements are made with your instructor.
